In support of a growing marketing focus within its expanded commercial platform, hotel operator Azul Hospitality Group has promoted Azure Tackert to SVP of marketing.
Tackett becomes the second executive on the San Diego, Calif.-based company’s commercial team to hold a senior vice president title, joining Melissa Matthews, SVP of sales. Tackert joined Azul in 2018 and most recently was vice president of marketing and eCommerce.
In her prior role, Tackert oversaw portfolio-wide marketing strategy across the company’s multi-brand platform, including digital marketing, public relations and positioning for both branded and independent hotels. During her tenure, the marketing team supported 29 hotel openings and multiple brand transitions across Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt and independent properties.
“Azure has played an instrumental role in shaping and elevating our commercial strategy, strengthening our digital performance, public relations platform and asset positioning capabilities across our growing portfolio,” Alvaro Fraile, CEO, Azul Hospitality, said in a statement. “Her promotion reflects the expanded scope and strategic impact of the marketing function across our platform.”
Matthews, meanwhile, continues to lead sales strategy for the portfolio, including group business, revenue performance and market share initiatives. Together, the sales and marketing functions operate as an integrated commercial team supporting hotel performance across Azul’s portfolio.
