The Eden, a coastal hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., has been relaunched as a boutique independent hotel under new management.
The property—originally built in 1939 as the Hotel Shangri-La and recognized as a historic landmark—reopened to guests in early June. With 70 guest rooms and suites, the revitalized property reopened this spring with a refreshed brand and renewed leadership. The Eden features Streamline Moderne architecture with design details that include curved lines, maritime detailing and Art Deco influences, which have been preserved through a multi-year restoration process.
"This isn't just a reopening, it's a reclamation," Danielle Delcambre, general manager of The Eden, said in a statement. "The Eden is a bold return to independent hospitality on the California coast, where legacy, design and intention come together to create something truly special and old world."
New amenities include a dedicated wellness studio for yoga and Pilates, refreshed interiors with custom detailing and a reimagined outdoor pool area with loungers, shaded cabanas and a full-service poolside bar.
The Eden is also introducing Coffee Manufactory at The Eden, a signature lobby-level café created in partnership with California-based coffee roaster Coffee Manufactory. Designed as a community-centric space, the café is designed to underscore the hotel's commitment to hospitality and local connection.
