KFI Studios has launched Loci, a collection of communal and collaborative tables designed by Union Design that blends sustainable forestry with the latest in wood panel fabrication technology. Made in the U.S., the collection is crafted from locally grown solid red oak with a satin topcoat that shows off the wood grain.
The timber used to create the Loci product line is responsibly grown, milled and finished within 200 miles of the KFI Studios factory , part of an effort to reduce the product's carbon footprint and support local workforces.
Loci is available as a 24” x 84” collaborative table or 42” x 84” communal table. An ADA-compliant option is also available. Designers can choose from three height options—cafe, counter and bar—and three distinct leg configurations—waterfall, single overhang or double overhang. The adaptable design allows for the use of single tables, or the creation of expansive table runs by connecting multiple tables.
KFI Studios developed a series of custom-formulated stains in a variety of colors (Natural, Timber, Coffee, Cream, Black, Clay, Navy, Evergreen) for the tables. Wrapped in a satin finish clear coat, KFI Studios worked alongside local finishers to develop a process that preserves the natural wood grain texture while maintaining its durability.
Because Loci is crafted from solid wood rather than laminates or veneers, the pieces can be refinished multiple times. KFI Studios also designed a simple metal cap that protects the bottom of the legs as well as adjustable glides in a variety of options to provide even more protection and ensure safe and efficient reconfiguration.
