The glamping market is getting more crowded: Marriott International has launched its newest brand, the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, a portfolio of outdoor-focused stays, from cabins near National Parks to boutique hotels near cliffs. Every property in the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy will combine access to nature alongside traditional hotel elements like beds, hot running water and dedicated restrooms.
Marriott International acquired the Postcard Cabins brand last year and formed a long-term agreement with Trailborn. At that time, the company announced plans to launch an outdoor-focused collection in 2025, anchored by these founding deals.
Marriott is also launching Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, a new digital platform that combines destinations with activities. Travelers can now book more than 450 hotels, 50,000 Homes & Villas, and curated tours & activities in categories like ski & snowboard, hike & glamp, bike, scuba & snorkel, surf, fish and paddle.
The two inaugural brands of the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy are Postcard Cabins and Trailborn Hotels. Postcard Cabins has more than 1,200 cabins across 29 U.S. locations, each less than two hours from major cities. The cabins have Scandinavian-inspired interiors, private fire pits and access to trails and lakes. Trailborn Hotels, on the other hand, are premium properties in “bucket-list”destinations, including the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Grand Canyon and the surf town of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
“We built Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors to help people, whether that’s cresting a mountain trail, catching the perfect wave, or simply finding quiet under the stars,” Peggy Roe, executive vice president and chief customer officer, Marriott International, said in a statement. “Travel is at its best when it speaks to who we are and what we love. It’s about reconnecting with yourself and the people you love in the places that inspire you most. ... We’re not just offering places to stay, we’re opening doors to experiences.”
Both Hilton and Hyatt have added outdoor hospitality and glamping options to their portfolios recently.
