Obie Hospitality names Asmussen president, COO

Community-focused project developer and operator Obie Companies has promoted Curt Asmussen to the position of president and COO of Obie Hospitality, the company’s dedicated hospitality division.

For the past five years, Asmussen has served Obie Hospitality as vice president. He previously served as managing director, as well as a stint as general manager of Obie’s Inn at 500 Capitol hotel in Boise, Idaho.

Asmussen—who will relocate to the company’s Eugene, Ore. headquarters—has worked in the hospitality business community since 2006, including serving on the board of directors for the Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The company recently purchased the Residence Inn Boise Downtown/University and has begun construction on the 75-room Gordon Hotel Corvallis, which is set to open in the Spring of 2027.

“Obie Hospitality has become keenly focused on growth through acquisition and development as we expand our portfolio of independent and branded hotels,” Brian Obie, president and CEO of Obie Companies, said in a statement. “It was time for us to create a new position that is the nucleus for our ongoing expansion in our hospitality division. I’m thrilled to name Curt to the position given his extensive industry knowledge and long-term support and success here at Obie.”
