OTO Development has acquired The Beachcomber in St. Pete Beach, Fla., adding the Gulf Coast resort to the hotelier’s leisure portfolio. OTO Development, part of The Johnson Group, closed on the acquisition Monday, May 4. The transaction was brokered by Preston Reid with Hodges Ward Elliot. Other terms and conditions were not disclosed.
“This is an exciting addition to OTO’s growing portfolio in the Tampa-St. Pete market,” CEO Rob Rain said in a statement. “The Beachcomber complements our nearby properties, positioning us to meet continued demand from the millions of tourists who visit St. Pete Beach
each year.”
South Carolina-based OTO Development already owns and operates four hotels in the Tampa Bay region, totaling 579 keys: AC Hotel St. Petersburg, Hampton Inn & Suites Ybor City, DoubleTree North Redington Beach, and Hilton Garden Inn St. Pete Beach, which is adjacent to The Beachcomber.
Ideally situated on 4 on-the-sand acres, The Beachcomber offers 102 guest rooms and 2,100 square feet of indoor meeting space. Amenities include two outdoor pools, direct beach access, and the iconic Jimmy B’s Beach Bar.
“We are intrigued by the potential synergy between The Beachcomber and Hilton Garden Inn,” says Rain, noting the neighboring properties are home to two of St. Pete’s busiest beachfront bars.
