Inn-Flow enhances labor management with payroll-compliance tools

Inn-Flow has introduced enhancements to its labor-management platform intended to automate overtime calculations, support pay-per-room compensation models and help hotel operators comply with labor regulations.

The update addresses payroll challenges faced by hotel operators as employees increasingly work multiple positions with different pay rates, pick up shifts across sister properties or earn pay-per-room compensation in housekeeping. According to the Raleigh, N.C-.based company, such scenarios have traditionally required manual calculations or payroll workarounds to ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and state labor laws.

“Our goal is to take the complexity out of labor management,” Lee Bridges, chief product officer at Inn-Flow, said in a statement. “Hotels shouldn't have to keep up with changing regulations or rely on spreadsheets to calculate overtime. These enhancements automate some of the industry's most challenging labor calculations, helping operators stay compliant, reduce administrative work and gain greater confidence in the accuracy of their payroll.”

In addition to overtime calculations for employees working at multiple pay rates, new features include support for overtime regulations in California and Colorado and overtime calculations across multiple hotels operating under the same Federal Employer Identification Number. Another new component is automated wage and overtime calculations for housekeeping employees compensated on a pay-per-room basis.

Inn-Flow also updated its labor reports and dashboards to incorporate pay-per-room wages, providing hotel operators with expanded visibility into labor costs and employee productivity. The company said the enhancements are intended to better align housekeeping labor budgeting with occupancy levels and room revenue.
