HCN launches global commerce media network to target affluent travelers

In-room tablet supplier Hotel Communication Network has launched a global commerce media network designed to help brands engage and transact with affluent travelers directly from the guestroom.

Built on HCN’s tablet platform, the network combines interactive digital signage with integrated advertising, enabling guests to purchase products and services during their stay. The AI-powered platform is offered to select hotel partners, with advertising revenue often covering deployment costs while generating incremental income, according to the Ottawa, Ontario-based company.

“HCN has delivered in-room tablets to top hotels since 2008, but adoption was largely limited to luxury properties,” CEO Kevin Bidner said in a statement. “Our commerce media model removes cost barriers, creates new revenue streams for hotels and positions the guestroom as a powerful marketing channel.”

HCN’s tablets integrate with core hotel systems—allowing guests to control room features and access services—while delivering curated content and targeted messaging. The platform also leverages first-party data and advanced measurement tools to help brands improve campaign performance.

The network is already active across major markets, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Nashville, Denver and Toronto, with additional reach across Europe and Latin America. HCN plans to expand into the top 20 U.S. markets by the end of 2026 through partnerships with Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
