Adam Werny, enterprise account executive at Craftable, is set to attend Hotec Operations, an annual conference presented by Questex, the parent company of Hotel Management. At the conference—scheduled this year for June 11-14 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.—buyers meet one-on-one with hospitality-focused suppliers to learn about new products and services and to keep up to date on emerging trends.
Ahead of the event, Werny shared his insights on how the hospitality industry is leveraging technology to improve operations.
1. How has your segment of the industry changed over the past year?
The hospitality industry continues to embrace technology in the face of rising costs for both labor and material goods. As a result, hotel operators are looking for savvier, intuitive and efficient solutions. Empowering their staff with technology and leveraging its ability to automate highly manual, time consuming tasks while integrating AI into reports to provide insights has resulted in reduced margins and increased profitability.
2. Can you share some ways you and your company have adapted to these changes?
Rising labor and food costs continue to be at the forefront of every conversation. We respond to these daily challenges by building system enhancements that generate real-time insights. Craftable provides our customers with the ability to be proactive as opposed to reactive, cushioning every operation’s response to their ever-changing landscape.
3. What are some trends you think will have staying power beyond 2024?
Increased adoption of technology in both guest-facing and behind-the-scenes experiences and processes.
4. What is the biggest challenge you have overcome over the past year?
Craftable is dedicated to delivering solutions that meet our customers' needs. As the industry shifts, so too must those solutions. Without question, staying ahead of these shifts is the biggest challenge, as well as the one we are most proud of overcoming. Through employing industry experts and encouraging communication with our customers, we've been able to build a foundation of evergreen best practices combined with responsive platform updates.
5. How have you incorporated environmental, social and governance efforts into your hospitality operations?
Food waste is a significant concern in the hospitality industry, resulting in both loss of profit and environmental impact. Craftable’s unmatched visibility into inventory management helps our customers order more efficiently, prep items with informed intention, and closely monitor resources. This directly translates to decreased waste and generates the spread of eco-friendly best practices for profit.
6. What are you most excited about accomplishing over the next year?
Our most rewarding moments are watching our customers succeed whether in the impact we grow together or in the news as they garner loyal fans (including us!) Our close relationship with our customers informs our platforms, creating an agile solution that adapts alongside the industry. We are excited to continue empowering the best of the hospitality industry to build a better business.
7. What is the value of meeting hospitality buyers one on one?
Immeasurable. Direct meetings deliver significantly better results than the “typical” trade show format.
