Sonesta International Hotels has executed a deal for what will be the Costa Sur Resort - Classico, A Sonesta Collection. The 206-room oceanfront upscale resort is located on a private beach, overlooking the ocean at Banderas Bay, south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The resort is nearby local attractions including The Malecón boardwalk, The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Zona Romántica (Old Vallarta) and Rio Cuale Island.
The resort will undergo a renovation and be rebranded with the Classico brand, joining the Sonesta portfolio later this year.
“We are proud to announce plans for Sonesta’s first property in Mexico,” Brian Quinn, Sonesta’s chief development officer, said in a statement. “Sonesta’s continued focus on global expansion, particularly in the LATAM region, demonstrates the company’s commitment to addressing demand from guests and loyalty members for more hotel options in leading vacation destinations.”
Costa Sur Resort & Spa is an all-suite resort with ocean-front views within 10 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta. Each room has ocean-front balconies, king or double queen beds and 55-inch smart televisions. The resort’s private beach and ocean lagoon make Costa Sur the only hotel in Puerto Vallarta where guests can snorkel onsite. Costa Sur also has two pools, a bar and a restaurant with ocean views.
“We are incredibly excited to be the first hotel in Mexico to join the Sonesta family. This affiliation is a game-changer for us, putting our hotel on the map and giving us the competitive edge to stand out against other established major brands in Puerto Vallarta. With Sonesta's exceptional reputation and our commitment to providing outstanding hospitality, we are confident that this will bring unparalleled success and recognition to our hotel,” said Ken Molinaro, managing partner of the resort.
Classico is positioned in the upper-upscale segment.
