The Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa—a 560-room resort in Coachella Valley—has completed a multi-million-dollar reinvestment program.
The desert-inspired transformation introduces refreshed public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms and foyers, alongside a redesigned front desk and lobby, and new pickleball courts. In addition, Seven Olive—a modern gastropub, paired with Topgolf Swing Suites—is poised to make its debut. The updates to the Indian Wells, Calif. hotel blend mid-century modern influences with desert-inspired textures and tones.
Central to the renovation is a curated art program featuring custom-commissioned works and sculptures by noted local artists, including Brian Peters, Valero Doval and Ashley Nardone. The reimagined interiors, which were designed Los Angeles-based firm Bishop Pass, include raw yet refined materials.
“By capturing the essence of the desert, this redesign embodies what the Renaissance brand stands for today—connecting guests to the destination and inspiring discovery,” Tim Pyne, general manager, said in a statement. “From enhanced digital experiences to refreshed public and meeting spaces, every change was thoughtfully considered to create a more seamless and memorable stay.”
Poolside cabanas have been updated with modular furnishings and smart TVs, complemented by new lounge seating, personalized beverage carts and four newly added pickleball courts. The resort’s signature Glo Patio, overlooking the pool, is also being reimagined with contemporary lounge and dining furnishings in a navy palette accented by taupe and warm brown tones.
In the lobby, wire-mesh boulder forms cascade across the reception ceiling, designed to evoke desert hills and vistas, while stacked cairn sculptures introduce warm wood tones. Rich desert hues of purple, red and yellow appear throughout, complemented by sculptural installations crafted from organic woods and set against panoramic desert imagery. A tennis-and-golf ball sculpture nods to Indian Wells’ signature pastimes.
Meeting and event spaces have also been refreshed with designs inspired by desert flora and organic form. Pre-function areas feature hand-crafted ceramic installations, curvilinear finishes, rich floral carpeting and a muted palette of natural hues.
