Marriott Marquis Houston completes guestroom, meeting space renovation

Marriott Marquis Houston has completed the renovation of 1,000 guestrooms, as well as its meeting and event space.

The project introduces updated interiors and operational enhancements aimed at both leisure and business travelers, while incorporating design elements that reference the property’s Houston setting. The Texas hotel is connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center and continues to serve as a headquarters hotel for major citywide events.

Houston is scheduled to host international matches associated with the FIFA World Cup 2026.

“As Houston’s status as an international destination for global business and entertainment continues to rise, we sought to elevate the guest experience by combining the Marriott brand’s signature reliability with the unique spirit of the city,” Thomas Inasu, hotel manager, said in a statement. “We aren't just updating spaces, we are setting the stage for world-class events and personal milestones that define our community.”

Guestroom updates included new carpeting, furnishings and upholstery in earth tones with regional influences, along with artwork reflecting Texas culture. Pieces include references to Houston’s “Space City” identity and the “Be Someone” mural in the city’s Arts District. Furniture updates emphasize natural materials and finishes intended to balance residential comfort with workspace functionality.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the Texas Ballroom, have also been redesigned with updated finishes and lighting. In addition to the renovated guestrooms and meeting facilities, the hotel continues to offer a range of amenities, including a rooftop pool and Texas-shaped lazy river, as well as multiple food and beverage outlets.
