In coordination with its 90th anniversary, the La Jolla (Calif.) Beach & Tennis Club has completed the first phase of its $60 million renovation.
The beachfront resort now features a transformed pool deck, revitalized outdoor gathering spaces, resurfaced tennis courts and new services. The renovation is being led by Los Angeles-based design firm Studio UNLTD.
“The Beach Club has always been a place members treasure and visitors return to year after year, generation after generation,” Michael O’Donohue, managing director of La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, said in a statement. “As we commemorate 90 years, our focus is on making the experience even more enjoyable. The new spaces and updated amenities reflect what people have always loved about the Beach Club while adding more comfort, more connection and more reasons to keep coming back.”
The redesigned pool deck now has been expanded with upgraded seating options, including private cabanas, family lounges and chaise lounges. Teak banquettes and upholstered group seating are framed by honed Calcutta marble; oak-clad rattan soffits; striped, scalloped umbrellas; and a wood-paneled façade, according to the company. The centerpiece of the enhanced resort-style pool deck is the addition of a wood-fired Marra Forni pizza oven.
The property also added an indoor/outdoor market that serves grab-and-go meals, house-made dips, artisan snacks, breads and meat.
