InterContinental Miami to renovate meeting, event spaces

The InterContinental Miami will temporarily close its meeting and event spaces this summer as part of a multi-million-dollar renovation project scheduled for completion in September 2026.

The renovation—which follows a 2024 redo of the property’s guestrooms, suites and Club Lounge—will encompass the hotel’s 135,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. The project is being spearheaded by Sudbury, Mass.-based Parker-Torres Design.

The upgraded spaces are intended to support a range of events, from small gatherings to large-scale conferences and social functions, according to general manager and regional director of operations Glenn Sampert.

“As we look to the future of meetings and events at InterContinental Miami, this renovation is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating immersive, adaptable spaces that meet the needs of today’s meeting planners and customers who want to host everything from intimate gatherings to grand affairs,” Sampert said in a statement. “We’re especially excited about the integration of advanced event technology, enhanced lighting design and refined finishes that elevate the overall guest experience.”

Planned updates include art installations inspired by Miami, new carpeting, updated lighting fixtures, redesigned wall treatments and refreshed finishes throughout the meeting spaces. The design palette will incorporate soft oranges, blues and muted greens alongside contemporary textures and patterns.

The hotel currently has 35 meeting rooms and multiple ballroom configurations with capacity for up to 2,000 attendees. Outdoor event venues include SkyLawn, Seaside Terrace, and Picante Terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline.
