Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has earned LEED Silver Certification, a benchmark in sustainable building design and environmental performance from Green Business Certification (GBCI).
The designation follows a comprehensive renovation of the property. The project adhered to LEED-informed guidelines, influencing both construction practices and the selection of furnishings throughout the refreshed hotel, which is located roughly 1,000 steps from the U.S. Capitol Building.
Coinciding with the hotel’s 50th anniversary, the redesign also evokes the architectural legacy of the U.S. Capitol and its surrounding neighborhoods.
“We are proud to achieve LEED Certification as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible hospitality,” said Randy Thompson, general manager of the hotel. “This recognition reflects our team’s dedication to reducing our environmental footprint while continuing to deliver a high-quality guest experience.”
Administered by GBCI, LEED Certification evaluates buildings across key sustainability categories including water efficiency, energy performance, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality and innovation in design. Projects must meet strict prerequisites and undergo a rigorous third-party verification process to achieve certification, according to GBCI.
