Meyer Jabara Hotels has secured its first university hotel management agreement with a deal to operate the 36-room Reitz Union Hotel on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville.
Owned by the University of Florida, the hotel—which is located within the Reitz Union Student Center—is one of a limited number of on-campus hotels at the university. Its location provides access to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the Stephen C. O'Connell Center, the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and UF Health Shands Hospital.
The Danbury, Conn.-based management company plans to expand sales, marketing and revenue management efforts at the independent hotel and will evaluate potential renovation and repositioning opportunities over the next one to two years.
