Fabric producer Ultrafabrics is re-releasing its legacy brand Brisa with a recycled backcloth made of eight plastic bottles per yard. The company has also added nine new curated shades for a total of 54 colorways.
Brisa will be one of the first full collections to include recycled polyester and responsibly sourced rayon in the backing. The recycled polyester is derived from pre- and post-consumer waste including recycled plastic bottles and post-industrial waste. Ultrafabrics uses polyester yarn that includes an estimated 8.3 recycled plastic bottles per yard of fabric for its legacy Brisa collection.
The rayon fibers are transparently sourced from various sustainable wood inputs from certified and controlled forests that meet strict sustainability requirements.
By 2025, all Ultrafabrics products will have reached their goal of including at least 50 percent rapidly renewable and/or recycled resources.
