Mainsail Lodging to manage South Carolina Marriott

Mainsail Lodging & Development has assumed management of the Spartanburg (S.C.) Marriott. The management agreement took effect Feb. 4.

The nine-story hotel has 247 guestrooms and suites, more than 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space across 25 venues (including two ballrooms) and more than three acres of outdoor event space.

“We’re pleased to welcome the Spartanburg Marriott into Mainsail’s growing portfolio of managed properties,” Joe Collier, president of Mainsail Lodging & Development, said in a statement. “As a trusted hotel management partner, our leadership team has been on property for full immersion, working closely with ownership and associates to understand the hotel, the market, and opportunities for future enhancements.”

The Spartanburg Marriott has multiple dining venues, including Sparks Fire-Inspired Grill, Mesh bar and lounge and a Starbucks® Coffee Bar, providing options that appeal to both hotel guests and the local community. The property also offers a full complement of amenities, including an outdoor pool, upscale fitness center, and the exclusive M Club Lounge, providing elevated comfort and personalized service for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members.

The hotel is walking distance to the Chapman Cultural Center, Barnet Park, Renaissance Park, Wofford College and Converse University.

“The Spartanburg Marriott is an important asset for our company and for the downtown community,” said Jimmy I. Gibbs, majority owner. “Mainsail brings a distinguished depth of operational expertise and brand stewardship that aligns seamlessly with the execution of our vision for the property. We are confident this collaboration will drive strong performance while further elevating the hotel’s reputation as a premier and flagship destination for business travel, meetings, and events in Spartanburg, throughout the Upstate, and across South Carolina.”

The addition of the Spartanburg Marriott further expands Mainsail’s management footprint across the Southeast and Caribbean. The company has properties currently under development in North Carolina and Georgia.
