Westgate Resorts has opened its newest mountaintop lodge with the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Water Park in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Westgate Resorts—a privately-held timeshare and vacation experience company—debuted the newly expanded $26 million, 1,400-room property. The property is located adjacent to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which attracts more than 12 million annual visitors.
The opening marks the latest in a series of growth initiatives by Orlando-based Westgate Resorts. In the past year, the company announced a partnership with Choice Hotels; launched a new timeshare brand, VI Resorts by Westgate; and debuted the Mystery Fun House Arcade Experience at Westgate Vacation Villas and Town Center; as well as River Country Water Park at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo in Florida.
“This expansion represents a meaningful reinvestment in the guest and owner experience in one of the best vacation destinations in the United States,” Jared Saft, COO at Westgate Resorts, said in a statement. “This new lodge reflects how we continue to evolve the resort with thoughtful design, long-lasting materials and modern functionality, while honoring what makes this destination so special to families who return year after year.”
The new mountaintop lodge suites range from studio villas accommodating four guests to five-bedroom villas that can sleep up to 12. Designers developed a refined rustic-modern concept centered on layered materials and destination-inspired artwork. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors provide views of the Smoky Mountain range.
Beyond the newly introduced suites, the resort offers a full range of amenities, including the full-service Serenity Spa and fitness center, playgrounds, seasonal activities and shuttle service. In addition, guests have access to Wild Bear Falls Water Park, a climate-controlled indoor/outdoor attraction featuring slides and a lazy river; multiple heated outdoor pools and hot tubs with mountain views; and on-site dining including Southern Comfort Restaurant.
