The Vessyl—a 4D Sound Wellness Resort—has opened in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, at the base of Arenal Volcano.
Located on 118 acres of rainforest, the resort focuses on wellness programming that incorporates immersive sound, nature-based experiences and small-group accommodations. The Vessyl was developed by Josh Stanley, co-founder of Charlotte's Web, in partnership with Miami, Fla.-based AKEN Hotels & Resorts. The property accommodates 33 guests across six private villas, one treehouse and seven glamping tents.
“We are entering a period where technology is moving faster than human beings can keep up with,” Stanley said in a statement. “People are overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious and craving something real. The Vessyl was built to bring people back to nature, to community, to presence and to themselves.”
A centerpiece of the resort is the Frequency Dome, an immersive sound venue and recording studio developed with acoustician George Augspurger. The space features spatial audio, immersive visuals and a floating floor equipped with 24 transducers that transmit sound through vibration. Programming includes meditation, breathwork, movement sessions, live performances and group discussions.
Additional wellness offerings include breathwork, cold plunge sessions, vibrational sweat lodge experiences, equine programs led by Enrique Molina and wellness sessions with trained practitioners. The resort's restaurant, Rancho, is led by chef Delvi Saul Mendoza and features cuisine inspired by local ingredients and Costa Rican culinary traditions.
Located near Arenal National Park, The Vessyl also provides access to nearby waterfalls, thermal hot springs and rainforest excursions as part of the guest experience.
