Stay Cal Hospitality has opened the 51-room Voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale, a new hotel operating under the IHG Hotels & Resorts Voco brand in California's Silicon Valley.
The hotel takes its name from Ardez, a Romansh-speaking village in Switzerland’s Lower Engadin valley known for its preserved architecture and focus on sustainable tourism. According to hotel operator Stay Cal Hospitality, the hotel’s design was inspired by both Northern California craftsmanship and the alpine heritage associated with the voco brand.
The California property is located near several Silicon Valley business hubs, as well as San José Mineta International Airport, Levi's Stadium, and the Caltrain Lawrence station. The hotel was developed with a design concept centered on nature and sustainability, incorporating features including a living moss wall in the lobby, a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar and a commissioned mural program throughout the hotel.
“The Ardez has been a passion project of mine from day one,” Hiten Suraj, CEO of Stay Cal Hospitality, said in a statement. “We designed and built to LEED Gold standards because the way we build matters as much as what we build.”
Amenities at the property include Verd’e, the hotel’s cocktail lounge and restaurant, a library-inspired great room, meeting and boardroom space, a fitness center and a Full Swing golf simulator suite. Guestrooms feature dedicated workspaces, custom floral headboards and sustainability-focused amenities including recycled-material bedding, refillable bathroom products, glass water bottles, and aerated showerheads.
