Sam Houston Hotel reopens as Hilton Tapestry Collection Property

The Sam Houston Hotel has reopened in downtown Houston as part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection following a comprehensive renovation led by owner Scenic Capital Advisors.

The historic property, which first opened in 1924, is located on Prairie Street in Houston’s Central Business District. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel underwent renovations designed to preserve its architectural character while updating the property. The repositioning marks a continued investment by Scenic Capital Advisors in historically significant urban assets.

“Our vision was to preserve the soul of this historic building while preparing it for the next century of hospitality,” Rick Singleton, founder and CEO of Scenic Capital Advisors, said in a statement. “Guests want more than a place to stay; they want to feel part of the city’s story. The Sam Houston does just that by blending historic grace with modern energy and will once again stand as a beacon of heritage, design and community.”

Renovation work focused on guestrooms and public spaces, incorporating updated finishes, improved functionality and modern amenities while retaining original architectural elements. Design updates reference the building’s Art Deco heritage and emphasize continuity with the hotel’s historic identity.

The Sam Houston Hotel is within walking distance of Houston’s Theater District, Discovery Green, Minute Maid Park, Market Square Park and multiple public transit options.
