Retreat Hotels & Resorts has opened a new dual-branded Fairfield by Marriott/TownePlace Suites located at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, Ga.
The 129-room property is visible from Interstate 75 and is situated directly on the Fairgrounds campus, with an enclosed corridor connecting it to the Miller-Murphy-Howard Conference Center. It is the first Marriott-branded hotel in the Perry market and the only Marriott property within a 15-mile radius. Located approximately 100 miles south of Atlanta and near Robins Air Force Base, the Georgia National Fairgrounds attracts more than one million visitors annually.
“We’re so proud of this hotel—the stunning vision came to life. You have to see it to believe it,” JJ Singh, president of Reston, Va.-based Retreat Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement. “We’re grateful for our partnership with the Fairgrounds, the City of Perry, Marriott and our design and construction partners. Together we did something amazing.”
The hotel combines two Marriott brands under one roof, with 66 TownePlace Suites by Marriott guestrooms and 63 Fairfield by Marriott guestrooms. Amenities include the 1824 Kitchen & Bar, complimentary breakfast, a pool and spa, fitness center, guest laundry facilities and electric-vehicle charging stations. The hotel’s design incorporates agrarian influences and equestrian elements intended to reflect the character of the Fairgrounds.
Stephen Shimp, executive director of the Georgia National Fairgrounds, said the hotel adds a full-service lodging option to support the Fairgrounds’ operations and events. Perry Mayor Randall Walker, meanwhile, noted that the hotel supports tourism, major events and long-term economic growth for the city.
