Playa Hotels, Marriott to open all-inclusive resort

Playa Hotels & Resorts—owner and operator of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, Jamaica and Dominican Republic—has signed an agreement with Marriott International to expand The Luxury Collection brand in the Mexican Caribbean with Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya. Set to open late this year, the resort will be situated on 14 acres of lush natural landscape, nestled between a mangrove reserve and the pristine waters of the Mexican Caribbean.

“Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya is the result of Playa’s strategic initiative to offer our customers differentiated concepts in the all-inclusive segment," Fernando Mulet, EVP and chief investment officer for Playa Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement. "We are excited to continue expanding our managed portfolio alongside Marriott International. The demand for luxury all-inclusive products has been growing significantly, and we are proud to lead this transformation."

The property is in Puerto Morelos, a fishing village 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport. The resort will have 100 oceanfront suites and amenities including a 22,000-square-foot spa and three restaurants. A separate building within the property will act as a “resort within the resort” with 10 suites with private plunge pools and beach access, an intimate exclusive pool and two dedicated restaurants with a private chef.

“We are delighted to expand the footprint of The Luxury Collection in Mexico and can’t think of a better company to do so than Playa Hotels & Resorts,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “Paraiso de la Bonita will continue to deliver on The Luxury Collection promise of providing access to the most fascinating and sought-after locations on earth, while offering unparalleled amenities and service that discerning global explorers have come to expect from the brand.”
