The Kimpton Era Midtown New York has officially opened in Manhattan, representing the latest addition to the luxury brand’s portfolio in Manhattan.
The 33-story ground-up skyscraper was developed by New York, N.Y.-based Extell Development Company and is the first hotel to be managed directly by the company through its hospitality division. Design interiors were created by INC Architecture & Design, while the building’s architecture was designed by SLCE Architects. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants—part of IHG Hotels & Resorts—also operates the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in Chelsea and Kimpton Hotel Theta in the Theater District.
“As our first managed hospitality project under Extell Hospitality Services, Kimpton Era is a testament to our commitment to best-in-class service and sophisticated design,” Elysa Goldman, SVP of development at Extell Development Company, said in a statement. “We’ve worked with world-class partners to create a destination that captures the layered character of New York City, and we are proud to see this vision come to life in the heart of Manhattan.”
The 529 guestrooms are designed in a “jewel box” style, emphasizing efficient layouts and calming tones such as soft neutrals, cool blues, olive and dusty pink. Custom window seats provide views of the surrounding skyline. South-facing rooms above the 15th floor offer views of the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center, while rooms facing north overlook Rockefeller Center and nearby Fifth Avenue.
Beyond the guestrooms, the hotel includes four restaurant and bar concepts operated in partnership with Apicii. The lineup includes a collaboration with acclaimed chef Rocco DiSpirito and a rooftop bar offering 360-degree skyline views of Midtown Manhattan. The hotel also features a 24-hour, 1,375-sq.-foot fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes, yoga mats and modern cardio equipment.
Dining options include The Parlor and Bar Rocco. Additional concepts arriving later in 2026 include Amasa, a Latin steakhouse with a street-level cantina serving Mexican-inspired tacos and cocktails, and Jade Rabbit, a rooftop Asian izakaya featuring panoramic Manhattan views.
