Hyatt Hotels Corp. has reopened Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort after completing a comprehensive renovation of the adults-only, all-inclusive Mexican property.
The updates are intended to modernize accommodations and public spaces while reinforcing the brand’s positioning. Located in the gated Playa Mujeres community north of Cancún, the all-suite resort is adjacent to a Greg Norman–designed golf course and is roughly 35 minutes from Cancún International Airport. In addition to its beachfront setting, guests have access to amenities at the neighboring Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort.
“We are thrilled to debut the newly renovated Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort following extensive enhancements to elevate the guest experience,” Mauricio Martinez, general manager of the resort, said in a statement. “The property delivers the Secrets Resorts & Spas blend of romance and relaxation, while also appealing to guests seeking access to golf and a broader range of leisure experiences.”
All guestrooms have been redesigned with a contemporary coastal aesthetic, incorporating natural materials, muted color palettes and streamlined layouts. As part of the renovation, the resort introduced a new two-story Preferred Club building, which includes a private check-in lounge and an ocean-view restaurant reserved for Preferred Club guests. A newly constructed private beach club has also been added as well.
Public areas throughout the resort have been reconfigured, including the relocation of the Rendezvous lobby bar to the former main lobby and the repositioning of the check-in area closer to guest accommodations. Meeting and event spaces were also updated. Enhancements to the Secrets Spa are underway and are expected to be completed in mid-February.
In addition, Desires Night Club and Coco Café reopened with updated interiors, while Portofino continues to offer Italian cuisine in a redesigned setting. Bordeaux—which is scheduled to reopen in mid-February—has been reimagined as an Amazon-inspired dining concept.
