Hyatt, RLH Properties debut Alila Mayakoba resort in Mexico

Hyatt Hotels Corp. and RLH Properties have opened Alila Mayakoba on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, marking the Alila brand’s debut in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Set within the 60-acre master-planned resort community along the Caribbean coast, the 182-room luxury resort spans beachfront, lagoon and jungle landscapes within the Mayakoba enclave. The property includes guestrooms, suites and villas—nearly 40 percent of which are suites, including a beachfront Presidential Suite—along with six dining venues and Spa Alila at Mayakoba.

“Alila Mayakoba signals a defining evolution in our collaboration with Hyatt and a meaningful expansion of our luxury footprint in Mexico,” Luis Duran, CEO of Mexico City, Mexico-based RLH Properties, said in a statement. “Celebrating Mayakoba’s 20th anniversary with the opening of this resort—the first Alila-branded property in Latin America—is a significant achievement that reinforces our legacy as pioneers of eco-conscious luxury and our commitment to developing resorts rooted in place and purpose.”

“From the moment guests arrive, we want them to feel at ease and fully present as they discover the connection between the Alila brand’s philosophy of mindful luxury and Riviera Maya’s natural beauty and cultural richness,” added Patrick Schori, general manager of Alila Mayakoba.

The design emphasizes open-air architecture and materials native to the Yucatán Peninsula. Interiors by Huber Design incorporate locally sourced hardwoods such as tzalam, parota and rosa morada, along with hand-chiseled Mérida limestone and recuperated travertine. Custom furnishings created with regional artisans are designed to further anchor the property in its setting.

Well-being programming is rooted in collaboration with local Mayan elders and practitioners. Guests are welcomed with traditional elements including coconut water, Melipona honey and regional botanicals, followed by clay-and-honey cleansing rituals. Spa Alila incorporates treatments aligned with the sacred Tzolk’in calendar, temazcal ceremonies and sound therapy experiences. A Technogym-powered fitness center offers personalized assessments and training programs.

The resort’s dining portfolio ranges from beachfront and garden settings to chef-led tasting experiences. Casa Amate returns as a signature fine-dining venue, while El Huerto, a 12-seat chef’s atelier led by executive chef Michael Grau, centers on a zero-waste philosophy and ingredients grown on-site. Additional concepts include Na Cocina Local, Ninguno Taqueria, Alisio Beach Club and Xiim Bar, offering a mix of regional cuisine, Mediterranean influences and tequila- and mezcal-focused beverage programs.

Event spaces are designed for weddings and gatherings that integrate indoor and outdoor settings, from chapel ceremonies to lagoon-side celebrations.
