The Martin by Greydon House, a 15-room property set within a newly reimagined historic inn, is located in Nantucket, off the coast of Massachusetts. Originally constructed in 1803 for Nathaniel Sherman and his wife, the home was eventually transformed into a guesthouse in the 1920s.
Inspired by the island’s natural aesthetic, Stephanie Hall, lead designer and partner of Nantucket Looms, paid homage to Nantucket’s natural beauty and rich history with sophisticated coastal design elements. Featuring an elevated color palette reminiscent of the tones found in the island’s sky, sea and moors, the varied hues of blue, green and gray provide a modern, cozy-meets-contemporary feel across the centuries-old property.
Each of the property’s rooms and suites were designed to instill a sense of place, incorporating understated nautical design elements, present in pillows adorned in Seigaiha-inspired wave patterns, brass-and-rope mirrors and white linen lampshades. The premiere accommodations on property include two spacious suites, the Studio King Suite and the Junior King Suite, and a Deluxe King room with a private balcony.
“We are eager to welcome guests into The Martin following its thoughtful redesign,” Garison Beale, general manager of Greydon Hotel Group, said in a statement. “Through this reimagination, we are continuing to demonstrate the Greydon Hotel Group’s commitment to providing outstanding experiences for our guests.”
Occupying a prime location on Nantucket’s Centre Street, The Martin is a short walk from the island’s finest shops, beaches, restaurants, and historical landmarks, a five-minute walk from the Hyannis, Oak Bluffs and New Bedford ferry docks, and a 10-minute taxi ride from the Nantucket Memorial Airport.
