Garden Gables boutique hotel to open in Lenox, Mass.

Under new ownership, the Garden Gables prepares to open its doors this spring in Lenox as a boutique hotel following a full restoration.

Originally built in 1780 as Butternut Cottage, the 16-room historic property has undergone a repositioning designed to honor its storied past. The Berkshires property is located close to Tanglewood, along with the Massachusetts region’s performance venues, museums, boutiques, restaurants and hiking trails. The property has been owned and operated by Salem, Mass.-based Sullivan Capital since October of 2024.

“Garden Gables is more than a hotel,” Eric Sullivan, managing partner at Sullivan Capital, said in a statement. “It is an invitation to experience Lenox and the Berkshires at their finest, where history, elegance and a deep sense of place converge.”

Each guestroom has been individually designed to blend heritage architecture with modern comfort, featuring linens by Frette, spa-inspired bath amenities from The Botanist & The Chemist, curated in-room coffee stations and self check-in technology.

Room categories range from Classic Queens and Kings to spacious Suites and Signature Cottages, offering accommodations for couples, families, retreat groups and wedding parties. Select suites include private porches or exterior decks.

In addition to leisure stays, Garden Gables will offer full-property buyouts for weddings, corporate retreats and curated gatherings. Reservations for the property will open soon.
