The Cooper joins Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection

The Cooper—a new luxury waterfront hotel on Charleston’s historic peninsula—has joined Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection.

The luxury South Carolina hotel—which is located along the Cooper River and will be open to the public in March—includes 191 guestrooms and 21 suites, many with private balconies overlooking the harbor and downtown Charleston. Interiors were designed by New York, N.Y.-based Champalimaud Design in collaboration with Atelier Kim, drawing inspiration from Charleston’s coastal setting and French Quarter architecture.

“Joining the Legend Collection is a significant milestone for the property and supports our goal of delivering a highly curated guest experience that reflects Charleston’s character and waterfront setting,” Lukus Grace, managing director of The Cooper, said in a statement.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts represents more than 650 independent hotels and resorts worldwide across its Legend, L.V.X., Lifestyle and Preferred Residences collections. Member hotels receive global sales, marketing and distribution support.

“The property brings together strong design, a waterfront location and a range of amenities that align well with what travelers expect from our Legend Collection hotels,” added Dan Coyle, EVP of U.S. and Canada for Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Guestrooms and public spaces feature neutral color palettes, wide-plank oak floors and traditional architectural details intended to reflect the character of the surrounding neighborhood. Amenities at the property include a full-service spa and wellness center, a rooftop pool overlooking the harbor and a private marina with access to guest excursions.

In addition, the hotel offers four food-and-beverage venues, as well as more than 20,000 square-feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
