The Atlas Hotel—a new boutique lifestyle property—has opened in Boston’s Allston neighborhood.
Located at the gateway of Harvard University’s Enterprise Research Campus, the hotel was developed by real estate firm Tishman Speyer in collaboration with Harvard University. The 246-room hotel is operated by New York, N.Y.-based Highgate and was designed by Fayetteville, Ark.-based Marlon Blackwell Architects with interiors by INC Architecture & Design.
Adjacent to Allstonway—a new community greenspace—The Atlas is focused on sustainability with LEED Gold and Fitwel certifications. Some of the eco-friendly initiatives include primarily all-electric operations, as well as green infrastructure including rainwater-harvesting bioswales and bird-friendly window treatments.
“The Atlas marks a new era for hospitality in Boston,” general manager Arnaldo Almonte said in a statement. “Luxury hotels with classic New England elegance are commonplace. We are proud to offer a fresh, modern and elevated experience that reflects the city’s innovation while honoring its heritage. The Atlas is a social hub rooted in connection, culture and community.”
The hotel blends disciplined architectural forms with softer, organic elements inspired by the area’s academic legacy and creative culture. Pedestrian-focused design is designed to create a streetscape that draws the public into a ground floor, which has a living room–style lobby, restaurant and upcoming retail space.
The Atlas has 246 guestrooms, including 12 suites. Interiors emphasize proportion, craftsmanship and comfort through layered lighting, tailored millwork and natural materials, according to the company.
Public spaces are designed as “third places,” fostering connection between locals and global travelers. The living room lobby serves as the hub of the hotel, offering complimentary beverages, snacks and Wi-Fi.
Meeting and event spaces occupy the hotel’s sixth floor, offering more than 1,500 square-feet of flexible indoor space with natural light and views of Harvard Business School and Harvard Stadium.
Leading the culinary program is Pearl & Law Hospitality’s Biplaw Rai and Nyacko Pearl Perry. Ama at the Atlas, a 180-seat ground-floor restaurant, is now open. In spring, the team will open Foxglove Terrace, a 7,000-square-foot rooftop bar.
