The Alamite, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is set to open next week as the first upscale boutique hotel in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The hotel is blocks away from University of Alabama, Bryant-Denny Stadium and the soon-to-be-completed Saban Center. When it opens, the Alamite will be part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio.
“From architecture to design and service, The Alamite is an experience infused with authentic touches inspired by the unique character, culture, heritage, and people of our city,” The Alamite Tuscaloosa GM Karen Steiger said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome visitors and locals alike to experience this new hotel, which builds on local traditions while maintaining a forward-looking perspective in Tuscaloosa.”
The Alamite pays homage to the history of Tuscaloosa. Sophisticated design elements and creative artistic touches reflect the personal experience of a classic Southern family residence. The color palette throughout the property draws from the local geography; built-in bookshelves represent the academic backbone of the community; and pebbled leather wallcoverings, tufted wall panels, and vintage trophy displays recognize the importance of football within the “City of Champions.”
The Alamite has a curated art collection featuring works by prominent female artists including Angela Chrusciaki Blehm, Gina Julian and Ashley Longshore. The hotel will continue to add art to its collection and has plans to install an oversized mural in the coming months.
“My wife, Terry and I, are excited to be a part of the ownership group for The Alamite,” said Nick Saban, University of Alabama football coach. “Not only will this investment benefit our local economy, but it also represents a new standard for design and comfort in downtown Tuscaloosa.”
In addition to 112 guestrooms, meetings spaces, and a fitness center, The Alamite Tuscaloosa has two new destination concepts—a brasserie-inspired restaurant and a rooftop venue.
