The 1927 Landmark opens in downtown Chattanooga as Waymark Hotel

The historic 1927 Chattanooga Savings Bank & Trust Company building has reopened downtown as The Waymark Hotel, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.

The converted 148-room hotel is owned by Milwaukee-based HKS Holdings and will be managed by Raleigh, N.C.-based Concord Hospitality. Vacant for nearly two decades, the extensive renovation was designed to preserve the building’s original character—from grand arched windows and detailed masonry to marble accents—while introducing a modern aesthetic.

“Along with the vision of all of our real estate developments, this hotel was about honoring the character of the building while bringing new energy to downtown Chattanooga’s central business district,” Tyler Hawley, principal of HKS Holdings, said in a statement. “We’re proud to create a space that blends history, design and community in a way that will be enjoyed for years to come.”

“The Waymark is more than a hotel—it’s a destination designed to bring locals and visitors together. From the warmth of the lobby to the rooftop’s panoramic views, every detail pays tribute to Chattanooga’s creative energy,” added Dannialle Neville, Concord Hospitality’s regional vice president of operations.

The 148 guestrooms have curated furnishings, custom artwork and individualized layouts. The hotel’s design highlights two signature concepts: Iris Rooftop Bar and The Vault, a speakeasy located within the building’s original bank vault. Other additions include a market café, distinctive meeting spaces and a contemporary fitness center.
