Profitability first: A defining moment for owners

As we gather for AAHOACON, we do so at a pivotal time for hotel ownership. Costs remain elevated. Competition is unrelenting. Expectations from brands, guests and lenders continue to rise. In this environment, hope alone is not a strategy. Profitability must be.

This year, AAHOACON is centered on a clear mandate: equipping owners with the tools, insight and partnerships necessary to strengthen margins and protect long-term asset value. Profitability First is not a slogan. It is a commitment to practical solutions that move the needle.

Across our association, that commitment is already taking shape. Through AAHOA Marketplace, powered by Avendra, members gain access to more competitive pricing and streamlined procurement, directly lowering operating expenses. Through AAHOA Lending, powered by Bridge, owners have clearer pathways to secure capital for renovation, refinancing and acquisition. And through AAHOA’s recent partnership with Kalibri, hoteliers are learning to dissect revenue streams, uncover inefficiencies and make data-driven decisions that improve bottom-line results.

These initiatives reflect a simple belief: when owners thrive, our industry thrives.

Turning Insight into Action

Education at AAHOACON has been intentionally designed to translate strategy into measurable results. A highlight this year is a half-day Certified Hotel Profit Analyst (CHPA) course developed in partnership with Kalibri Labs. This program will equip hotel owners with practical tools and strategies to strengthen profitability, improve cash flow and increase long-term asset value.

Knowledge without action changes little. Insight paired with execution transforms businesses.

A hotel is more than a building. It is a living enterprise shaped by disciplined decisions, strategic partnerships and courageous leadership. The most successful owners are those who continuously sharpen their financial acumen while remaining agile in a shifting marketplace.

A century ago, President Theodore Roosevelt observed that “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” There is no work more worthy than building sustainable, profitable enterprises that support families, create jobs and strengthen communities.

At AAHOACON26, in the city at the heart of America’s 250th birthday, we are not merely convening. We are advancing. And together, we are ensuring that the future of hotel ownership is defined not by pressure, but by performance.
