Outrigger Hospitality Group has appointed Karen Kurosawa director of environmental, social and governance.

Karen Kurosawa

Kurosawa joins Outrigger from CDP Reporter Services in New York, where she was an accounts manager advising Fortune 500 companies on environmental disclosure, emissions verification and alignment with leading frameworks including TCFD, GHG Protocol and SBTi. She holds a Master of Arts in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University.

“ESG is not a side initiative at Outrigger—it’s central to who we are as a brand and how we operate across the globe,” Monica Salter, Outrigger’s vice president of global communications & social responsibility, said in a statement. “Karen’s proven expertise in ESG reporting and data analysis will sharpen our ability to measure progress and accelerate initiatives that protect our oceans, support our hosts and communities, while creating  long-term value.”

In her new role, Kurosawa will oversee the collection, analysis and reporting of environmental data across Outrigger’s global portfolio as part of plans to expand the company’s sustainability goals. Central to these efforts is Outrigger Zone, the company’s global conservation initiative that engages guests, hosts and communities in protecting the health of the oceans and coral reefs. Kurosawa also will focus on expanding educational programming and strengthening partnerships with organizations dedicated to preserving marine ecosystems.
