Staypineapple Hotels partners with Coulée Coffee Co.

Staypineapple Hotels has entered into a partnership with Coulee Coffee Co. making the supplier the exclusive in-room coffee provider across all nine of the brand’s properties, beginning in April.

The rollout will introduce the Eau Claire, Wisc.-based company’s 100 percent compostable EcoPour Filters and the Coulée SWIRL Brewing System to guestrooms, replacing traditional single-serve plastic pod machines. The system is designed to provide a café-style pour-over coffee experience while reducing single-use plastic waste commonly associated with in-room coffee service.

The Coulée Coffee system will be available in guestrooms at all nine Staypineapple properties in Boston, Chicago, New York, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle starting in April.

“Staypineapple has long set itself apart through thoughtful, guest-first design and a deep commitment to sustainability,” Dina Belon, president, Staypineapple Hotels, said in a statement. “From eliminating single-use plastic water bottles to operating properties powered by 70 percent renewable energy, we believe doing right by our guests and doing right by the planet are one and the same.”

The Coulée SWIRL machine uses a proprietary brewing process that creates a swirling motion intended to replicate the bloom, extraction and finish of a manual pour-over preparation. Coffee is brewed through a fully plastic-free, stainless steel brew path using compostable EcoPour Filters. Guests will be able to select from three 100 percent Arabica blends: She-Devil, Doc’s Blend and B.I.O.N Decaf.

The partnership aligns with sustainability initiatives already implemented by Kirkland, Wash.-based Staypineapple Hotels. The company has eliminated single-use plastic water bottles in guestrooms in favor of refillable options, introduced refillable in-room soap dispensers to reduce packaging waste and increased the use of renewable energy across its portfolio.
