White Lodging has begun development of a 295-room Autograph Collection hotel in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood with an opening planned for late 2028. The North Carolina project will be the company's fifth Autograph Collection property and its second hotel development in Charlotte.
The hotel will be the first full-service lifestyle hotel in the South End district. The development team includes Brasfield & Gorrie as general contractor, Abeyta Architecture Studio and Corgan Architects as architects and Dallas, Texas-based Looney & Associates as interior designer.
The project expands White Lodging's presence in Charlotte, where the company previously developed the JW Marriott Charlotte and its on-site food and beverage venues, including Dean's Italian Steakhouse, Caroline's Oyster Bar and Aura Rooftop. According to the Merrillville, Ind.-based company, South End's continued mixed-use growth and limited supply of upscale hotel accommodations were key factors in the development decision.
“Charlotte’s South End represents exactly the kind of vibrant, experience-driven neighborhood where an Autograph Collection hotel can truly thrive,” Conner White, vice chairman and chief investment officer of White Lodging, said in a statement. “Our investment here will reflect the same commitment to quality and community that has defined our work in uptown Charlotte with the J.W. Marriott.”
The hotel will include nearly 10,000-square-feet of meeting space, a ground-floor restaurant, a fifth-floor outdoor pool deck, a restaurant and bar and a wellness component with a spa, steam sauna and hot- and cold-plunge pools. The rooftop amenities will also be accessible to the public via a dedicated ground-floor elevator.
