UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle and UMH Development unveiled plans to convert downtown Kansas City’s historic Scarritt Building into a UMusic Hotel.
The development will incorporate hotel accommodations, branded residences, entertainment, recording facilities and retail into the adaptive reuse of the Scarritt Building, which was constructed more than 117 years ago. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 on the Missouri project.
UMusic Hotels is the hospitality brand of Miami-based UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, which develops properties centered on music and entertainment. The Kansas City project follows the opening of UMusic Hotel Madrid.
The hotel is expected to include approximately 169 guestrooms, along with a connected 309-unit branded residential tower. The project is being developed by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based UMH Development and BR Companies of Kansas City and Los Angeles.

Planned amenities include a music and entertainment venue, recording studio, retail store, multiple food and beverage outlets, a rooftop restaurant, lounge and pool, as well as a spa and fitness center. The development is located three blocks from the Power & Light District and within a 10-minute walk of T-Mobile Center.
