Sports Hospitality Ventures, the exclusive hotel and resorts licensee for the Sports Illustrated brand across North America and the Caribbean, and the Lagoon Development Company have a new joint venture: the Sports Illustrated Resort at Lago Mar, Texas City, Texas.

“We are thrilled to announce and welcome the arrival of the Sports Illustrated Resorts to Lago Mar,” Lagoon Development Founder and CEO Uri Man said in a statement. “This partnership blends the dynamic energy of sports with the exceptional hospitality of Texas, creating a haven in the heart of the Lone Star State.”

The Sports Illustrated Resort at Lago Mar will stand nine stories tall and have a total of 200 rooms. The resort's accommodations will be diverse, with a range of floor plans catering to various preferences. Whether it's suites tailored for on-the-go professionals, rooms with king-sized beds, queen-sized beds, double beds or other options, the resort ensures a selection to meet every guest's needs. Additionally, guestrooms with lagoon-side views will have views of the 12-acre crystal-clear lagoon, the largest in Texas, holding 24 million gallons of water. Beyond the rooms, the Sports Illustrated Resort will have many amenities. The resort will be home to the Stadium Sports Grill and the Sports Illustrated Beach Club.

“This location in Texas City is an exciting venture for us,” said Christopher Schroeder, CEO of Sports Hospitality Ventures. “Texas sports, especially Houston sports, are integral to this state, and we are pleased to bring this resort to such a dedicated fan base.”

The new hotel will be managed by American Resort Management, which has a strategic partnership with SI Resorts.

Groundbreaking for the new resort is scheduled in the third quarter of 2024.
