Plamondon Hospitality Partners has broken ground on the Marriott Downtown Frederick, Md., at Carroll Creek, a full-service hotel and conference center, with completion targeted for 2027.
Plamondon Hospitality Partners is leading development and will manage the hotel upon completion. Construction and design partners include DAVIS Construction, FILLAT+ Architecture, Looney & Associates and PDSI. Atlas Restaurant Group is collaborating on the hotel’s food-and-beverage concepts.
The project is being developed in downtown Frederick through a four-way public-private investment partnership. Public funding represents approximately 26 percent of the project’s total cost, including a $23 million investment from the State of Maryland and a combined $4.5 million contribution from Frederick County and the City of Frederick.
"Having operated in Frederick for nearly 30 years, Hospitality Partners has always been committed to the community's success, and this project milestone is a physical representation of our continued dedication to supporting the City of Frederick's vision for strategic growth, new jobs and exciting economic opportunities to come," said Peter Plamondon, Jr., co-president of Plamondon Hospitality Partners.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore—who attended the groundbreaking—said the site has long been viewed as a future development opportunity.
"For a long time, this site has been a promise waiting to become a place, but today, we are finally there. This groundbreaking represents our commitment to choosing alignment, urgency and the will to compete. By partnering to build this first-class hotel and conference space, we are making a clear investment in the future of Frederick, and our entire state," said Moore.
Located along Carroll Creek Linear Park, the full-service Marriott property will include 204 guestrooms and more than 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. The hotel is expected to serve both group and transient demand, with walkable access to downtown restaurants, nightlife and cultural attractions.
