TUCSON, Ariz. — At its sixth annual convention, which kicked off on Tuesday here at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, My Place Hotels of America announced My Place 3.0, a series of product enhancements and a new prototype designed to drive demand. Perhaps most notably, My Place will include a one-bedroom suite designed for business travelers or small families.
Ryan Rivett, co-founder and CEO of My Place Hotels, introduced the new prototype during the convention’s opening general session. “We've done a really great job of maintaining consistency, quality and sustainability within our prototype models,” he told the attendees, noting that the interiors were identical—a “core competency” of the brand.
New Looks
The new exterior design lets owners choose between a pitched roof or a flat roof based on preferences or local regulations like height restrictions. The exterior finishes are designed for adaptability, allowing easy interchange between manufactured panel products and applied systems like Dryvit. Masonry options can be included or omitted, providing further customization. “In the cost environment that we’re in today, flexibility promotes availability, and availability improves time to market,” Rivett said in a statement announcing the launch.
Addressing the convention attendees, he said the updated exterior options are a “relatively simple change” that fit into overarching trends within the industry. “So it was important that we made these changes.”

My Place hotels have traditionally been available in three-story, 64-unit or four-story, 87-unit boxes. The 87-unit prototype will get upgrades including a soft half-booth in the guest lounge; the addition of another dryer in the house laundry; reconfigured guest laundry with stackable units; and an enlarged maintenance and mechanical area, which also provides additional storage and housekeeping space on the upper floors. “You’ll have more space to store the things that you need to store and be prepared for service,” Rivett told the attendees.
The brand’s foundational three-story, 64-unit box is also still available for owners.
After talking with key stakeholders like developers, owners, operators and municipalities and considering insights from market-based analytics, the company has developed a standardized four-story, 71-unit prototype. The design incorporates many of the elements seen in the larger box. The prototype is available now, with the brand anticipating several installations to begin in 2025.
My Place Business Suite
The new My Place Business Suite is a one-bedroom option targeting individual business travelers or small families. “This is not necessarily a new concept,” Rivett said. “The shotgun suite has been around for a long time, but we have integrated it into the My Place program.” This room is approximately 470 square feet and has a king bed, an expanded kitchen with a full refrigerator and a ducted VTAC unit for balanced climate control throughout the space. Rivett estimated that each of the prototypes will incorporate just shy of, “or maybe just greater than,” 10 percent of their unit mix with the one-bedroom suite.
“In terms of pricing, this room type sets a new high for ADR and contributes positively to overall yield management,” Rivett added in the statement. “Operators can use this room as an upgrade for Stay Rewarded members or as an upsell option.”
