Drury Hotels begins construction on new Mobile, Ala., property

Drury Hotels has begun construction on a new property in Mobile, Ala., on the site of a former Drury Inn & Suites that operated for nearly four decades.

The Drury Hotel Plaza Mobile will be the company’s fifth hotel in Alabama and is scheduled to open in October 2026. The 186-room hotel will include more than 1,900-sq.-feet of meeting space.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to the Drury Plaza Hotel Mobile,” Chuck Drury, CEO of Drury Hotels, said in a statement. “Mobile is home to one of the South’s most diverse business communities and popular destinations for its entertainment scene and nearby beaches. We are excited to be part of this community and offer travelers Drury’s signature hospitality.”

The property will have business and fitness centers, on-site parking, an outdoor pool and spa and a Kitchen + Bar concept for late-night dining.

The hotel’s meeting facilities will accommodate up to 270 guests and will include Wi-Fi access and flexible booking policies. Drury Hotels plans to begin recruiting staff as construction progresses. Upon opening, the property is expected to employ about 50 full- and part-time team members.
