U.S. hotel performance showed positive year-over-year comparisons, according to July 2026 data from CoStar.
July 2026 (percentage change from July 2025):
- Occupancy: 69.7 percent (+2.3 percent)
- Average daily rate: $171.74 (+5.7 percent)
- Revenue per available room: $119.77 (+8.2 percent)
July’s U.S. hotel results were stable compared with June: Occupancy edged slightly higher, but lower room rates pulled RevPAR slightly down. Occupancy increased 0.1 percent, ADR declined 1.2 percent and RevPAR declined 1 percent.
CoStar credited the World Cup for year-over-year improvements in both months.
Top Markets
Among CoStar’s top 25 markets, Detroit reported the only double-digit year-over-year occupancy increase (+10.7 percent to 70.7 percent).
New York City, which hosted the FIFA World Cup Final, registered the largest gains in ADR (+24 percent to $351.18) and RevPAR (+27.1 percent to $305.74).
Overall, 22 of the top 25 markets saw a jump in RevPAR.
