Vertice Hospitality Management plans California inn conversion

Vertice Hospitality Management is set to open The Selvedge, A SingleThread Inn, in Healdsburg, Calif., later this year.

The Selvedge—a conversion of the former River Belle Inn, a Healdsburg mansion first built in 1895 as the home of American wine industry pioneer Isabelle Simi Haigh that was later transformed into a bed and breakfast—will introduce a redesigned and reimagined guest experience to Healdsburg upon opening its 10 rooms in late 2026.

“The 68 Front Street address has a storied lineage, and the property is idyllically perched on the gorgeous banks of the Russian River.” Tony Greenberg, co-owner and chief executive officer, Vertice Hospitality, said in a statement. “The Selvedge will welcome guests who want to experience all that Sonoma has to offer with a new immersive and deeply meaningful bespoke hospitality experience, orchestrated by the SingleThread and Vertice team. Most importantly it continues our mission to foster deeper and more meaningful relationships with our guests, the local community, our team and wider global agricultural, culinary and hospitality communities,” he said.

Exterior architecture for The Selvedge will be led by Axia Architects, with interior design overseen by AvroKO, the same firm behind SingleThread’s eponymous restaurant and Inn. The design of The Selvedge will draw inspiration from the formative experiences of its husband-and-wife owners, Kyle and Katina Connaughton, who spent time living and working in England. The design and guest experience will also pay homage to the Inn’s location on the banks of the Russian River.

In tribute to the original building’s Victorian-style architecture and family heritage, the signature Victorian building exterior will remain the same, as will portions of the property that served as the former home of Isabelle Simi. The Inn’s grounds will be relandscaped with an English influence, featuring secluded herb and rose gardens as well as a wrap-around porch. The remaining interior spaces will have a color palette influenced by the surrounding Sonoma wilderness. Interiors will blend handcrafted ornamentation, curated vintage pieces and floral motifs with metal accents, bold patterns and textures, with a unifying theme to maintain balance.

“If SingleThread was inspired by our time living in Japan, combined with the beautiful bounty of Sonoma, then The Selvedge reflects all that Katina and I love about Sonoma with the incredible hospitality culture we experienced during our formative years living and working in England,” said Kyle Connaughton.

Public spaces at the hotel will include a library, parlor, communal breakfast room and amenity area as well as a coffee bar and a new fitness center. Each of the nine garden-view and riverside guestrooms—including a 2,000-square-foot, third-floor suite complete with a professional Miele kitchen—will be individually designed, featuring fireplaces and patios.

Much like SingleThread Farm, Restaurant and the group’s existing Inn at 131 North St. in Healdsburg, The Selvedge will emphasize seasonality and a deep connection to Healdsburg and the greater Sonoma Valley. Many of the fixtures, furnishings and finishes selected for The Selvedge will be locally sourced or custom-made.
