Ruby Hotels, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium portfolio, will expand into New York City with a planned 2027 opening of Ruby New York City.
A renovation of an 18-story 1930s-era building is scheduled to begin later this year to convert the property into a Ruby hotel. Local developer AC Developers will own the property, and Dallas, Texas-based Aimbridge Hospitality will manage operations.
The hotel will be located on Manhattan’s Avenue of the Americas, near Herald Square, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. The project marks the brand’s second U.S. signing in recent months, following a planned hotel in Chicago.
Ruby New York City will feature 187 rooms and a 24/7 lobby bar designed as a central social space for both guests and local visitors. The property’s design approach focuses on streamlined accommodations, including compact rooms with signature bedding, rainfall showers and standardized finishes.
“New York City is the ideal home for Ruby Hotels, a brand that balances an inviting and memorable lifestyle experience while appealing to cost- and style-conscious travelers,” Andrew Weiss, co-founder, AC Developers, said in a statement. “We welcome the opportunity to bring the first Ruby hotel to New York in collaboration with IHG.”
“Ruby’s arrival in New York City reflects our momentum in bringing the brand’s distinctive experience and flexible model to major U.S. urban markets,” added Jolyon Bulley, CEO, Americas for IHG.
Founded in Germany in 2013, Ruby Hotels operates and has in development more than 40 properties, primarily in major European cities. The brand’s global expansion plans include additional hotels in the U.S. and new properties in Belgium, Germany and Italy.
