The Hotel AKA Brickell in early March will transition and debut as Brickell Arch, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Miami.
Since its 2021 acquisition by Electra America Hospitality Group—a joint venture between real estate investment firm Electra America and luxury long-stay specialist AKA—the 201-key property has undergone a $16 million design transformation. As the property enters its next phase, AKA will transition day-to-day hotel management to Norwalk, Conn.-based HEI Hotels & Resorts when the hotel joins The Luxury Collection portfolio—part of Marriott’s portfolio of brands—on March 4.
Plymouth Meeting, Penn.-based AKA—a division of Korman Communities—will continue as co-general partner in the ownership group of the property, which is located within the mixed-use Brickell Arch tower at 1395 Brickell Avenue.
“Our ownership approach has centered on intentional investment in both design and operations to strengthen the asset’s long-term performance,” Russ Urban, principal and CEO at Electra America Hospitality Group, said in a statement. “Our collaboration with The Luxury Collection positions the property to continue performing at the highest level to maximize long-term value.”
“We’re proud of what we accomplished at Hotel AKA Brickell, from elevating the guest experience to becoming the number one-ranked Miami hotel on TripAdvisor in a highly competitive market,” added Larry Korman, CEO of AKA.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to manage this extraordinary property,” noted Anthony Rutledge, CEO at HEI. “We’re especially enthusiastic about our new partnership with Electra America. Their vision for this project—coupled with The Luxury Collection brand—a diverse demand base and a prime location in Miami’s urban core, position it to serve as a market leader.”
The renovation—which was led by global architecture firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates—introduced a renewed sense of arrival, elevated public spaces and enhanced amenities. Additional updates are planned to further align the property with The Luxury Collection’s global portfolio.
The property features a ground-floor lobby, a 25th-floor lounge with panoramic views of the Miami skyline, ADRIFT Mare by Michelin-starred Chef David Myers, a resort-style pool and Sky Bar + Grill, Leaf Spa and a fitness center.
