The Lowline Hotel, a converted lifestyle property in Charleston, S.C., is scheduled to open in early summer 2026.
Spearheaded by Birmingham, Ala.-based Highline Hospitality Partners, the project represents the full renovation and reimagining of the former Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District. The hotel was acquired by Highline alongside the adjacent Hyatt House Charleston Historic District in November 2024. The Lowline Hotel will be among the first properties in the southeastern U.S. to join JdV by Hyatt, an independent lifestyle collection.
The property will also provide immediate access to the Lowcountry Lowline, a planned linear park and multi-use trail intended to expand green space and enhance pedestrian connectivity across downtown Charleston.
“The Lowline Hotel represents the convergence of design, culture and elevated hospitality in one of the nation’s most storied cities,” Chuck Pomerantz, managing partner of Highline Hospitality Partners, said in a statement. “Our vision was to create a property that not only reflects Charleston’s rich heritage but also anticipates the evolving expectations of today’s discerning traveler. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to deliver a sense of place, a connection to community and an experience that feels both authentic and transformative.”
The hotel—located on King Street—will have 197 guestrooms and suites designed to blend comfort with local inspiration. Planned amenities include a signature indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant celebrating Charleston’s culinary culture; a private dining room equipped with a golf simulator; a coffee shop offering locally sourced provisions; an indoor swimming pool; and nearly 8,000-square-feet of flexible event space.
