The Origin Hotel Baton Rouge (La.), a Wyndham Hotel, has opened following an extensive conversion led by Tandem Hospitality Group and The Thrash Group in partnership with Benson Capital Partners. Located downtown in a historic 68-year-old building, the new boutique lifestyle hotel has 87 rooms, a rooftop deck, an all-day Cajun-Creole restaurant and a Sweet Baton Rouge retail area.

Originally the Baton Rouge Savings & Loan Association building, opened in 1955, the hotel spent several years as the East Baton Rouge Arts and Technology School. The hotel’s history was an inspiration for design studio Ferriss & Co., which blended original influences with new age mid-century modern elements and deep jewel tones. Local fixtures like life-size alligators as overhead lighting and croc-patterned wallpaper were also woven throughout the hotel’s public areas.

An original 1955 carved limestone relief was restored and relocated as a focal art piece in the hotel, while public areas have local fixtures like life-size alligators as overhead lighting.

Guestrooms have classic bankers’ lamps and tiger-patterned wallpaper, paying homage to both its roots and treasured neighbor, LSU.

The hotel's Bunk Rooms have a king bed and four twin bunks, inspired by LSU alumni Joe Burrow and Pete Maravich with their photos on the walls, while the Bunk Suite sleeps eight with two bedrooms, a living area and fully furnished balcony.

Public spaces include a 24/7 fitness center, meeting and event spaces and a private rooftop deck. The hotel’s onsite all-day café Passé serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
